First of all visit the Acropolis! Then you can have a coffe or lunch at a nearby cafe-restaurant (Dionysos) with the best view of the Parthenon in town! Then go to the National Archeological Museum, the museum with the bigest collection of ancient greek stuff.Take a walk in Plaka-it's amazing!Shop in the malls(e.g ''Attica'' which is close to the University) and in Monastiraki flea market.Visit the ancient and the roman forums as well as the Columns of Olympian Zeus.Visit the Presidential Palace (on Irodou Atikou Str),the Benaki museum of Art(1 Koumpari Str) ,the Goulandri museum of natural history(13 Levidou Str-Kifisia),the municipal gallery(51 Pireos Avenue)the ''Iliou Melathron''(a magnificent building whitch is also the Numismatic Museum on 12 Panepistimiou Avenue),the museum of cycladic Art(4 Neofytou Douka Str). You can't miss Kerameikos, the ancient cemetery of Athens and naturally the Thisio with the Temple of Iphestos, the most well preserved ancient temple in Athens! The New Acropolis Museum will open in February 2007 so you'll propably be able to pay a visit there. You have to visit the National Gardens and the Pedion tou Areos Park and stroll down the Lykabitos,Philopapos and Ardittos Hills (In Ardittos Hill there is the Panathinaic Stadium ).The Zoo near to the airport is a beautifull experience(it's called Attica Zoological Park and has the world's third largest collection of birds)! You can also go to the First Cemetery of Athens which is supposed to be one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Europe.Oh,the Planetarium is among the best in the world!Don't miss it!
However,Athens is not just museums and ancient ruins! We have the best nightlife! There are numerous clubs, bars and restaurants where you can have the time of your life (check out yahoo travel)!
Also, there are many ski resorts around the city(Arachova in Mt. Parnassos is really beautiful with a spectacular nightlife!).Mt Parnitha (40 kms outside of Athens) offers breathtaking nature(there is military base there and it's fobiden to get close to it + the weather might be so bad to make you incapable of visiting the mountain). There is a casino up there too!
The weather in February can be cold enough to wear a jacket! In March things are a bit better.Sometimes it snows in Athens this time of year. It's abnormal I think-global warming effect and stuff....-but still! It's magical!!You can be informed about the weather some days before you leave.
Greeks on the whole speak English but greek people always appreciate it if a tourist speaks a little greek with them ;-)
Enjoy your stay!

Sleeping is forbidden! We work a lot but we go out almost everynight(even in winter and I can not understand how we can manage it )
It has a very good nightlife but by this time of the year you can also visit Greece's mountains for skiing.Winter vacations are great in Greece just like summer because there are a lot of mountains here.
You can go to Parnassos mountain which is about 2,5 hours far from Athens on north(by car) or you can go to Kalavrita which is about the same time far from Athens on west to Pelopponese

Hey,,, i was in Italy this year for the olympics...and almost skipped over to Athens..... i have been to Italy many times,, but never to Greece....
There seems to be some hotels that are close to the ruins.. and also a lot of resturants there,, from when i looked online....
I would suggest March,,, it was real Cold in Rome,, and it is almost straight across from Athens.... and they have mountains there in Greece also.....
Check out Hotels.com on the place to stay...and go from there....
Keep in touch,,, we might end up over there around the same time.. if you want to.......
good luck

Athens night life is a must!
Athens, the area of gods and goddesses, this is your place! Visit dynamic places, archaeological sites and museums. Walk around neighborhoods ...
How long are you staying? Will anyone going to host you? If yes, they would know to advice you accordingly! If not, keep asking and we will definitely advice and assist you!
