although clothing does have some effect on Sex Appeal, you get more than 50% of it according to what kinda car you're driving. get yourself into a nice sports car or the pimp mobile and then get out of the car, check your Sex Appeal, and you'll see a difference. It is also affected on how damaged the car is too. Get in a hoopty and then get out, and you'll see your Sex Appeal dramatically drop.
