Nice to see someone who actually likes cast iron cookware. I have had the same set of cast iron cookware for over 20 years. The good thing about cast iron, you can't mess it up. from reading your question one can see that you already know how to season it..I say go for it. I usually re season mine every year. I'll clean it with steel wool to start fresh...and add shortening and bake. You keep your seasoning job doing well, whip them clean instead of washing them in water and soap. If you do a good job seasoning them, that will be no problem.

Once a cast iron skillet has been preseasoned that is all it needs. The more you use it the more it will becomes seasoned through use. Just one thing, clean it thoroughly but NEVER and I mean NEVER use an abrasive pad of any kind on it or steel wool. Best wishes.

it'll work better if they are not upside down
butter works better than Crisco
& you can a million times if you need to
& a lower heat for longer time works better with cast iron, like 450 for an hour and a half.....550 for one hour for tin, 450 for an hour and a half for cast iron!
and they will never be really non-stick...but seasoning them 2 times a year is always good

Re-season just like you said...however, when you go to clean, just use a paper towel and wipe out. Heat up before using to kill any germs that may have landed on it.
Bon Appetite!!!!
And just so you know...it is good to cook with cast iron...it actually adds iron in to your food, upping the mineral content of the food.

the key is to not wash them with soap - just wipe them out with paper towels, then rub in more oil. The heat in the oven may be too high, I'd try at a lower temp so you don't burn the oil into the pan.

They will not get truly seasoned until you start using them regularly. Mom always wiped them after cooking with old newspaper. If you must wash them just use hot water. NEVER use washing up liquid or other soap based liquids...........
