"Mag Wheels" were a popular term for sporty rims on muscle cars from the 60-70's

The back tires were often much bigger than the front tires and the rear end sat way up.

Bring back the good old days!

fancy wheels In olden day 60s 70s many lightweight wheels were made of magnesium ror racing. They cost a lot and broke if you hit a curb so they changed them to aluminum.still called them mags

As a wild guess I'd say Magneto - it generates the voltage for the spark or something.
