All you need to do is multiply straight across.
(1 x 1)/(5 x 3)

and your answer is 1/15

1/5 * 1/3
=1*1 top
=5*3 bottom
=

it is .20 x .33 To convert to decimals divide three into one then multiply your numerator that will give you a percentage for the one third then divide five into one and multiply times numerator, then take the percentages or decimals, multiply those two and that will give you your answer.
Anyway 1/3 is the same as 5/15. 1/5 is the same as 3 /15 and somehow it comes out as 3/5 but your teacher will want proof
so practice the problem the way you were taught til you can remember it. I think with learning disabilities, everyone should always be able to access formulas, even during tests, coz some peoples limit is three items and they forget. It would work for everyone even advanced learners that might not need it. Kindof sounds like whatever you multiplied to get your common denominators becomes your actual answer. Test that theory and get back tome on it. 3x 5 = 15 and fractional answer is 3/5.
