Sounds like something is overheating to me, check the fans. Most modern PCs have a temperature sensor that can be seen from the BIOS.
Other thing it could be is a rogue process. When you next start your PC press CTRL-ALT-DEL and click on Task Manager, then the Processes tab within the newly opened window. Is anything using a large percentage of the CPU or a large amount of Memory? You can click on the column headings to make it easier to check. For example, MusicMatch Jukebox used to hog all my computer's resources until it just grinded to a halt.

this can be caused by so many things
spyware
virus
windows problem
hard drive problem
machine not been scandisked.
no been defragged
these are all general maintaince required on a pc
i would advise running a full spyware/virus scan, a defrag and scandisk to check for any hard drive problems
for spyware get adaware personnal from www.lavasoft.com
spybot and windows defender u can google for these
an scandisk defrag from start all programs accessories system tools.

It is possible that you have some sort of virus, spy-ware etc. or it could be your computer is overheating.
If I was you I would run and virus check, then if nothing is found then open your computer tower box up and clean out dust and see if the fan works when the computer is turned on.
