I suggest that you wait until she is old enough to understand what is being done to her. I think you have waited too long to have it done. I had my daughters done when she was just a little baby. I see no harm in having it done, and it is your child. However, she is old enough to know you are letting someone poke holes in her ears and won't understand why you are letting that happen. I would wait until she is old enough to know what earrings are and you can explain to her that it will be painful and let her decide. It's just like when you take your baby to have their 1 year immunizations. they are old enough to know that you are letting someone stick needles in them and don't understand why.
I always hated that part!
I hope this helps.
Take care!

It is ultimately your decision. I have looked up this topic on line before & studies show that when you have the child's ears pierced early they have less trouble (like developing keloids) with them. I had my oldest daughter's pierced when she was 15 months old & had no problems whatsoever with them. My second daughter got hers when she was 2. Hers got infected pretty bad but she has really sensitive skin so that was just an individual problem for her. My youngest daughter is 12 months old & I will probably get hers done in the next 3 - 5 months. Whatever you decide make sure you buy real gold & not the cheap stuff for the first pair of earrings in case she is allergic.

I got my daughters ears pierced at 4 months, I think it all depends when you are ready. She should do just fine, as long as she isn't one to pull at her ears. The best way to get them done is have them pierced at the same time so she doesn't have to endure sitting still, and the pain 2X. Alot of places will do it that way on a child.

I don't think it should be soley up to the parent when it comes to piercing ears. The Pro is that it looks so cute, and thats about it.
The CON's are: They may cause sleepless nights from the pain, you have to make sure her ears are well taken care of, the earrings for babies are EXTREMELY hard to take off or put on (i know, i tried to do it on my niece), and making sure her ears don't get infected.
My mom tried with me as lil girl and I didn't take care of them, they used to get infected and I could never keep them in my ears.
I advise you wait till she is old enough to actually take of them on her own, and that she really wants to. I'm not saying not to help her, but just assist and let her take most of the responsibilty.

I have a 1yr and if it were up to me I would have pierced her ears right away but my husband wouldn't let me. Most Dr say that the best time is when they are very young that way they grow with them and never know life with out them which means they won't be tempted to pull at them, I would go ahead and do it now while she is still young and that way she still probably really won't want to play with them. I on the other hand been told Ihave to wait till she is 5 lol

i don't have a daughter so i can't say for sure but my sister pierced her daughter's ears at around 6 weeks and never had problems, you just have to make sure to clean them, she likes them so much that now she has another set of holes in her ears (she's 14 now)

I don't know when you should do it now. We did our daughter's ears at 4 months because they really don't feel their earlobes until 6 months. She cried for 2 seconds when they did it and no pain afterwards. Being that she is older, I might wait for a few years and let her decide when she's ready.

You should pierce her ears when SHE wants them pierced and when she is old enough and responsible enough to care for them herself. Piercing is a personal decision your daughter should be allowed to make for herself.

No you should not let her get her ears pierced until she is old enough to make her own decisions. Wait until she is five or six.
