I recommend only putting 2. Since it's a small tank I also recommend getting either 2 females or 2 males. Guppies do have a lot of babies.
And since I would only put 2 in a small tank, I myself would go with 2 males. They are more colorful and more appealing to the eye than females.

2-3. The general rule is 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon of water in the tank. For example, if you have a 5 gallon tank, you could put 2 fish that were 2.5 inches long or 1 fish that was 5 inches long or any combination thereof...
Generally, less fish is better than more fish in any given fishtank.

You should have one medium to large fish per gallon of water. Smaller fish you can put 2 per gallon. So I would say with guppies and a 2 gallon tank of any shape you should be able to keep 4 of them happy and healthy.

The rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per gallon. So, assuming guppies don't get any bigger than one inch, two fish.
But a 2 gallon is a really small tank, btw. Consider getting a larger one.

Maybe 2, but you need some sort of filter for the tank. Personally I'd recommend getting a single male betta as 2 gallons is a good tank size for a betta. (Also bettas are perfectly happy being alone unlike many fish.)

I would put two or three MAX, since the rule of thumb is ine inch of fish per gallon of water. Unlike stated by #2 you can NOT put 20 fish of any size in a two gallon tank.

I wouldn't even put one. That is a really small tank. I would take it back to the store, get a refund, and save up for a bigger tank (at least a 10g for tropicals).
Edit: Guppies are community fish and prefer to be in groups of at least three. Since you do not have room for one, you can't make him happy by keeping him in a school.
Edit: Guppies get to be about 2 1/2". For those that are saying the 1" rule and then telling you you can still get several....think about it. You don't have room for even one!!!

You can put up to two or three. It depends on the genders though if you have male and female guppies just know that they may mate quickly you'll end up with more guppy babie than you can handle. I've been breeding them for ten years now and they are great fish. Good Luck!:)

that really depends on the size of the fish.it is recommended that you keep only one inch of fish in every gallon of water, so that being the case i would recommend only 2 guppies.
