First partial division:
Divide 4m into 12m³. It goes 3m² times.
3m²(4m - 1) = 12m³ - 3m².
Subtract: (12m³ + 21m² - 14m + 15) - (12m³ - 3m²) = 24m² - 14m + 15.

Second partial division:
Divide 4m into 24m². It goes 6m times.
6m(4m - 1) = 24m² - 6m.
Subtract: (24m² - 14m + 15) - (24m² - 6m) = -8m + 15.

Third partial division:
Divide 4m into -8m. It goes -2 times.
-2(4m - 1) = -8m + 2.
Subtract: (-8m + 15) - (-8m + 2) = 13.

Your quotient is (3m² + 6m - 2).
Your remainder is 13.

4m-1 | 12mmm +21mm -14m + 15

Because it's 12m^3 you know the first part has to be m^2 and 4 goes into 12 three times.

So try 3m^2

(4m-1)(3m^2) = 12m^3 - 3m^2

+ 12mmm + 21 mm
- 12mmm + 3 mm (remember the signs have to change because of minus)
----------------
24 mm -14m + 15

now 4 goes into 24 6 times and you need mm so multiply by m

Try: 6m

(4m-1)(6m) = 24mm -6m

+24mm - 14m
-24mm + 6 m
------------
- 8 m + 15

now 4 goes in -8 negative two times and you only need 1 m so no need to multiply by an m

try: -2

(4m-1)(-2) = -8m + 2

-8m + 15
+8m - 2
-------------
13

Putting it all together your final answer is

3m^2 + 6m - 2 remainder 13
