Try editing the boot.ini file. In Windows XP, you can get there by:

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
3. Under System Startup, click Edit.

Now, under the section that says:

[operating systems]

delete the one you don't want.

Ignore the "darkhelmet" and "le_longgunr" d00bZ above!!! Do NOT reformat the C: drive!!! If you do, you'll NOT be able to boot your machine!!!

Artpoz: Windows can be installed anwhere. Make a Q: drive and put it there if you want. It will work fine!

Just edit the boot.ini file on the root of the C: drive. It's a hidden, read-only, system file. Remove the hidden and read-only attributes. Then open it in Notepad. It will look something like this: (Sorry, I've had to break up the lines. This stupid Yahoo interface keeps truncating it)

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)
partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)
partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptOut
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)
partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptOut

Delete the line that reads:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)
partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptOut

-OR-

Change the timeout line to read:

timeout=5

-AND-

Change the default line to read:

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)
partition(2)\WINDOWS

Just do what Briansmobile said to do:

right click my computer select property's
advanced tab
start up and recovery
un check time to display operating systems or change it to 1 second

That is the easiest solution. There is nothing wrong with your computer and it still boots. It is just that the Boot.ini thinks that you still have two operating systems. The boot.ini file controls the boot of the computer.

When editing the boot.ini file, if one mistake is made then the computer will no longer boot.

It would be best for you just to edit the boot operating system selection time down to one second.

Windows XP has to be on C drive for it to work. Delete the one on D drive.

Open the boot.ini file using Notepad, delete the following line C:\="windows XP" and then save the file. The option will not appear the next time you boot your PC.

Go to Start,Run,type "msconfig",then Enter.Go to tab Boot.ini.
You should see two rows which starts "multi(0)disk(0) etc.
If you are install secound copy of Windows on drive D you should select row who has disk(1) as default.Whan you do that restart the computer.
It should work.

you either need to buy some partition removal software or reformat....you didnt get rid of the original partition, you just created another one.

lol soccers, macs dont break down as much simply because the dont run much software! Hackers dont attack macs because there are too few of them to bother with!

artpoz, shutup and read, You can label your drive Z and it will still load! Stick with fixin sandwiches!

It depends on which drive the boot up drive select command is on.You might be better off erasing the entire drive and re-installing Windows.

you had created a virtual drive as Drive D: and made the mistake of deleting your primary drive, Drive C:, where your boot and partition data were stored.

you're screwed. you have to start all over again with a complete reformat and OS reinstall.
