Since you are in the swimming & diving section I am going to assume you mean the butterfly stroke. On your stomach, you move your hands together arms up above your head. You kick your legs together, kind of use your whole body to thrust the kick (hope that makes sense), while at the same time moving your arms down through the water with the kick (it is at this time you can lift your head and breath) your arms will come to your side and you will glide a little, give a small kick. Your arms come up out of the water, out to the sides and over your head again. Repeating the whole process. Okay, ready to go try it?!

Butterfly is one of the hardest strokes there is. You have to move your hips back and forth. Don't use your kness kust hips. Just do this alone to get use to it you can use a kickboard or streamline.
For the arms, start with them over your head them bring them back by your hips then back up front. You breath when your hands are cupped by your hips. (you push yourself up there) You move your arms every back and forthof the legs.
Butterfly is very difficult at first. If other's around you are going faster, don't worry about it because they might have been doing it longer than you. Take your time. You might be a natural or you might not. Oh and don't eat before you swim! MAJOR cramps!

First you push off into a tight stream line and do dolphin kick and use your abs not your knees. The whole point of butterfly is to work your abs. Now on your recovery pull back as far as you can and get really deep. You throw your arms over the SURFACE of the water do not fling them up so high that you have to deo a whole circular motion. When you breath keep your chin on the surface of the water your just creating more tiredness by throwing yourself up so high. When your arms hit the water keep them shoulder with apart. Pull back and recover. And repeat the process

Ok a one way to describe the kick, which will be the base of you stroke, is a dolphin kick. If you ever took swim leason they might of taught you this. It's basically an up and down motion with your feet held together. As for your arms you sorta swing them in circles through the water in front of you pulling the water. You want to cup your hands to pull the water and the farther you reach the more pull you get. It's a hard stroke and I hope this helps. Good luck!

butterfly push up u mean? in that case you stand on your knees while pushing ur upper body from the floor. I dont' find it affective, but it's a female way of doing it even though a lot of women do a regular one too.

butterfly is the hardest and most complicated stroke. what you need to do is throw you arms above your head and keep your knees together and kick .every three kicks there should be one arm pull.
