Thanks to all of you for your answers. I can't pick a best answer as most of you had the same answer. I will for sure try the potato trick. Thanks again!

Cut the power to the item. If it is a lamp, pull the plug. Next, cut a potato in half. Poke the potato into the broken bulb and unscrew it from the socket. Voila!

First make sure that the light switch is turned off. Then stick a carrot or potato where the broken light bulb is and turn. The broken parts should stick to the potato or carrot. I had the same problem long ago and I can't remember who suggested this too me, but it works!

Turn off the light at the circuit. Cut a potato in half, and use the fleshy side to stab into the broken bulb. Turn the potato and you should be able to screw it out. Don't do this without cutting power to the socket!!!

I know this one, but you have to be careful. Get a soft bar of soap and place it over the part of the bulb that is left, see if you can slowly turn it so the bulb comes out. Obviously throw the soap away after you're done.
