Right, now let's all hold hands and sing kum-by-ya.

What planet have you been living on?? Socialism failed in Russia precisely because socialism breads corruption among the leaders of the state that everyone is supposed to work for under such a system. It is a wonderful Utopian idea, but impractical in the real world.

According to Marx, socialism would only work in industrialized nations. When Russia adopted the socialist system, they were far from being an industrialized nation. Although Stalin did industrialize minor parts of the country.

Socialism never failed in Russia. You know why? Because we have never have REAL socialism on the face of this planet. If people saw real socialism, what Marx intended to be, then people would be in awe of it.

Just like any theory, capitalism, democracy, so on, they are all beautiful on paper, however, extremely flawed in practice. Socialism just gave an alternative to the capitalist/artistocratic system.

It wasn't socialism that failed, it was human beings who failed. Socialism is a good idea - on paper. So is pure Democracy - which the world has never actually seen. George Bush's prattling about "spreading Democracy" illustrates his - and too many other Americans' - lack of knowledge. America was founded as a Republic, not a Democracy. It has never truly BEEN a Democracy.
It never will. That's why the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

successful? Socialism only works until people realize that they can do little or no work and get the same rewards as the hardest workers. Try taking to someone that lived in the USSR and had to stand in line for hours simply to get some bread. Socialism only works if everyone puts forth their best effort, and that doesn’t happen because human nature is to take the path of least resistance, i.e. do as little as possible

Karl Marx had a vision but that vision was perverted to meet the needs of the people in power. Socialism is an interesting concept but fails because of mans ambitious nature and greed.

Huh? Communism in any form never endured very long. 20 years is the average on communities that practiced that mode of society. Socialism is government competing side by side with capitalists. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was misnamed just like Hitler's NASDP.

Socialism was not succesful in the USSR, and in theory it is a lovely concept, but in praxis, it's a nightmare of state controlling everything. It's not a pretty utopia in which people share, and we all get to reap the benefits.

That was Communism, Socialism, also known as Christianism is alive and well all over Europe and to some extent in the US through the initiatives that FDR introduced that make your system viable over the long-term.

Humans are competitive by nature. Trying to make everything/everyone equal is impossible and regressive.
