I don't believe in waiting, but many do. What is your reason for waiting?

Since so many are giving their reasons for why they believe one way or the other, I thought I probably should have put mine as well >> I don't believe people should be rampantly promiscuous, but I believe that if two people are truly in love, mature, and respecting of each other, then there is nothing wrong. For instance, my bf and I plan on marrying as soon as I'm done with college... so what is the point in waiting one more year if we are already committed enough to marry. On top of that, my religion considers sex pleasurable, sacred, and something to be enjoyed and marriage is not a requirement for those things to happen. Anyway... that's all just my opinion... I am curious to see how others feel about the matter.

As a Christian, I'm raised to believe that it's proper to wait until marriage for sex, but I made that decision before I became a Christian. I'm waiting because I don't want to be another statistic of girls who lose their virginity before marriage, I want a guy who either is a virgin too or hasnt had a lot of experience, and I just respect myself more knowing I don't fool around with guys I barely know. But if I'm engaged to a guy or in a very serious relationship, I may do it. It will highly depend on the situation I'm in. Plus there's always the fear of getting a disease or getting pregnant, which is also a big one. But of course it's everyone's own opinion.

I didn't wait until marriage. But I did end up marry the first guy I had sex with....Imagine that. I did wait quite awhile though.

I believe a lot of people have religious reasons for doing so... Others may have the fear of getting pregnant or STDs & AIDS.

1Cor 6:18-19 "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? "

I have the received Holy Ghost and believe what the Bible says,so I must wait until I get married according to the Bible so that's what I'm going to do,and that is my reason for doing it.

Have a nice day.

Actually, this is the right way to prepare for marriage from as long as the vows were established. Society over years of mischievousness caused this sacred gesture from following thru to the newer generations. Religious ethics also have something to do with holding yourself for YOUR HUSBAND or YOUR WIFE which God has put together.

Religion is the main reason, but I have my personal reasons too. I think that sex is a beautiful thing and you don't want to waste it on someone that you aren't going to spend the rest of your life with or someone that doesn't love you. Also, if you wait, then just think how special it will be your first time on your wedding night. Isn't that how is should be. With someone you love and that loves you too.

im waiting for marriage to have sex, because well what the point of having sex right now, i dont want to get pregnant, i dont want AIDS or STDs, i dont want to have a child from some guy who i only have sex once, a person i dont really know. Even if i have sex i have a kid that " certain guy" wont admitted that is his child who is going to support me. Is more for Religious for me, im a Catholic and i also have a reallllllyyy strict family and im asian so that is how i was raise. I want to protect myself, and save myself for marriage, finding a right guy to married. Not some guy who can leave me because im pregnant with his child. Even if i dated a guy for about 5 years and we are engage, i am not going to have sex until my wedding nite. no offense to you, but you ask i answer.

Well, I have a religious reason cause I'm Christian.

Anyhow, since I'm still a teenager, I would be terrified of being pregnant, anyway, or get diseases. I mean, condoms are not even close to being one hundred percent effective. It's just a risk, anyway, and I don't take risks for pleasure. I would be so dead if anything happened to me.

the worst part of waiting until marriage is finding out your partner did not know how to manage in the intimacy and neither cares to know.

I believe people waits as part of a religious culture. Maybe not thinking in god for it, but as part of conservative religious education.

I believe that waiting is the best decision. I have nothing against those who don't , I just refus eto ruin my life by getting pregnant for something as un-important as pre-marital sex.
