Mix lemon juice with an exfoliating cleanser. Wash as frequently as you can stand, be sure to use hand lotion afterwards so your hands will not become dry. This will not remove it completely but will get enough off that you do not have the "muddy" look. The great news is that in a day or two it will be completely gone. I made this mistake before too. Remember to wash your hands immediately after applying self tanner the next time.

Wash your hands in hot water with lots of soap, if that dosn't work try nail polish remover.

Sounds weird, but I used a brillo pad...It worked! Then really moisturize after.
