You can still continue to use ice 15-20 min every 3-4 hours if you have some swelling. Keep the area elevated as well. See your doctor if the area does not seem to be improving reasonably well.

* You dont state why you have inflammation, is it a small contusion/bruise, or post surgery/major injury? some things just take a whole lot longer to heal...
I had surgery 3 months ago & I am still using ice 2x a day.
a minor injury like a sprained ankle may still be swollen for 5-6 days, and that's "normal" but keep it iced , elevated, rest it, maybe use an ace bandage for some mild compression...

but see a doctor if you havent for sure...

Antiinflammatories.
You can still ice, but that is the Maximum period.
Elevate up past your heart.
Movement to push the swelling' s fluid back in to circulation.

if you have severe swelling after 48 hours you should see a doctor, there may be other problems such as severely torn tissue. if it's minor any anti inflammatory will work.

I agree...Chammomile essential oil topically is a wonderful antiinflammatory, and no side effects either. I am at windstarhealing.com if you have any questions.
