Juliet e-mailed me the other day and said she was having second thoughts. Romeo's family is really getting on her nerves. Don't tell anyone I told you.

Actually, I think it sounds more like a passionate obsession between two stupid people. I mean, Romeo was in love Rosaline the night he first met Juliet and he falls in love with Juliet on first sight. If you believe that, oh, well, good...but he mostly emotes how beautiful she is, which isn't really love
In some ways, they are really stupid. I mean, Juliet is 13 years old. There were better ways to preserve their love. I'm not saying you can't be in love at 13, but I bet if they lived, Romeo would've fallen for the next girl.

Good question. They could have just been two kids, with their hormones raging, that were completely and hopelessly infatuated with each other. Had they not killed themselves, they may have ended up hating each other once the excitement wore off and they actually got to know each other.
However, I think it was Shakespeare's intention to characterize their love as true and pure. He just didn't have enough time in the play for all their long talks that lasted into the wee-hours of the morning. He had to think of the audience and the critics!

why do you ask?
well, technically, no they didnt. but a lot of people would say they did, because when you hear romeo and juliet, the first thing that comes to your mind is love, and since shakespeare meant for them to be in love, they are. however, not everybody understand what true love is, and that is a whole different subject. if you ask shakespeare, he's gonna say, yes. if you ask his readers, they're gonna say yes. but i say no.

They loved each other so much that they could not live without the other. (If you know the story)
Juliet did not want to marry the man her family wanted to so she drank a potion to put her to sleep. Romeo did not know she was sleeping and thought she was dead. He then killed himself to join her but when she woke he was dead so she killed herself to be with him.
