LOL, ok so people should not be having sex if they are not married according to others that have answered. Well, since we live in reality and not some utopia, I think that condoms are a great choice in preventing disease and pregnancy but to if you still want some added protection then other things are fine and they do not interfere with the use of a condo. The shot, the pill, the patch, even the morning after pill. You have unlimited options here. Research the options that you have and pick the one that is right for you. P.S. A lot of doctors use birth control to help couples get pregnant. It is usually effective from what I hear so I do not think that it will have any serious side effects on you.

It's always best to have two forms of birth control, because no contraceptives are 100% effective--except abstinance. If you're young, I HIGHLY recommend giving the abstinance thing another whirl before you get all purchasy with something else. remember, there's a possibility you could get pregnant EVERY TIME you have sex, birth control or not (accidents can and do happen). Unless you're ready for that, abstinance is a great thing.
Beyond that, any of the prescription alternatives work well, and it becomes largely a lifestyle preference (ie, do you mind taking pills all the time (because if you forget, you can't hold the b/c company responsible if you get preggers), do you mind having a patch that can cause skin irritation, or do you mind sticking something into the holiest of holies).
As far as affecting the body long term, well, we've got at least a couple of generations of women who've proven that there is conception after birth control, that you can lose the weight that you gain, etc, so I wouldn't worry about that so much.

I use the shot and condoms. I usually don't tell guys I am on birth control because I don't want them thinking it is OK to have unprotected sex. Trust me you never know. My sister got pregnant e off the pill. And I know someone who got an STD from the only man she was ever with. The shot is just a 3 month back up for me. Good luck.

Condoms are only good up to a point, and they aren't perfect. They break. Accidents happen. It's best to have a "backup" in place. No method of birth control, except abstinence, is a sure thing.....all have their failures. Where one leaves off, another can pick up the slack.

I understand that all women are different, and something that affects one, may not affect all. I took birth control pills for 25 years and suffered no ill effects from them whatsoever.

Birth control, whether you're married or not. :) it never hurts to be cautious. Condoms can leak, break, etc. The pill is still very handy to have around. They also have morning after pills, which I hear work. Never tried them though.

Of course, you should use a condom with any new guy, just in case of HIV and other diseases. He can swear he's clean til he is blue in the face, but i wouldn't take a guy's word for it unles he has some documented proof. That may or may not be relevant if you're faithfully married, but who really is these days? ;)

no it effects the body if you don't use it as told. it's not like you're going to be on birth control pills or what not for your whole entire life. they will come a time when you won't need it. i mean using a condom isn't always enough, you could always use that extra bit of protection. personally, birth control is a life saver in multiple ways. be careful and cautious. do it right the first time. it only takes ONE time as much as you've heard it. it's TRUE!

It just depends on what you are going for. You have to do what you are comfortable with. It also depends how long you have been with your partner (trust etc.). Check with your dr. for side effects etc. The shot can make you gain weight, the patch is being recalled, condoms break, you take chances with anything! Find what works for you. I use an IUD and don't even know it's there. This is only good for those who have kids already though.

I think a condom alone is okay. but if you are with the same partner for a long time you should both get tested and then if everything turns out okay use the pill because it is less of a hassle i think

I don't like the side effects of birth control pills/medicine. I use condoms with my boyfriend and we have been together for several months.

I have a friend who has been on it for years and she loves it. Her period is predictable to the day and she doesn't plan on ever having kids.

I don't trust condoms enough to just use those. They could break, slip off, etc. I always back up condoms with contraceptives. I would recommend Nuva Ring. Put it in and leave it be for 3 weeks. Less human error than the pill and more convenient, imo.
