There has almost ALWAYS been war somewhere in the Middle East. The book of Revelation was written in code, for believers at that time. We have lost some of the translations, and most people really struggle to understand it. Jesus said that no one, not even he, knew when he would come again. Making predicitions from reading the book of Revelation is a dangerous thing to do.

Yes, but the book of revelations only concerns itself with the middle east. It's like saying that a beachcomber predicts there will be sand on the beach.

If the book of revelations predicted something--really predicted something--such as the discovery of Alpha Centauri, or the Theory of Relativity, or wireless access to the Internet, then we could sit up and take notice of it.

Keep in mind that the book of revelations is useless melodrama. Even if all humans were wiped off the face of the Earth, it would not mean the 'end of the world.'

It would just be the end of one species on it. Extinction of one species or even several happens every day. It is up to humans to figure out how to stop being predatory toward one another so that we can continue on this planet. "Predicting" how to become extinct is no big deal, imho.

No! War in the Middle East has been going on for ever, we have instant 24 hour media coverage now and it's just in the limelight more. I'm not a Christian so I don't adhere to Biblical events but I wish it would all end some how. I really get tired of people killing in the name of religion and $$$$$$$$$$$$......

Maybe dinosaurs had their own Book of Revelation in which they believed the end of the world was coming. To them, it did. It didn't mean the end of the planet or other life on the planet.

I believe you can take the things in Revelation to mean anything you put them to. Like, 666, the name of the beast? Duh, the name of the beast was Nero. Read the book again and you will see it was written in code to avoid inprisonment and death from the ruling romans of the time. He was dissing them, and he was writing to the judeo-christians of the time telling them to get their lives in order and adhere to the "truth" and not give in to Rome.

Let's think about this: perhaps the Bible was written by MEN who are fallible, and we should use it only as a guideline as to how to live an upstanding life, or as a history of the jewish people. Even the writers of individual books don't agree with one another, so how could it be that God gave it word by word to every one of the writers? There has to be mistranslation and error and point of view by the writers and subsequent translators. God wouldnt give different versions to different people, or he wouldn't be a god.

Yes. This particular period of history has the ability for the world to destroy itself. No one wins in a war. Property can be restored, but even a lifetime is not long enough to resolve grief over a lost loved one.

Since Muslims, Jews and Christians believe in the messiah, maybe praying for the messiah to come and bring lasting peace before the world destroys itself would be a win-win-win solution

I don't think most people, even those who say they do, really do.

If they did, they'd put their money where there mouth is, and give their possessions to charity before the world ends.

But they don't.
