I remember the first time I got a cell phone I just wanted it bc averbody else had one.But the only reason you should have it for is convenience. And if they are right about what you will do, then you really can't complain. What you can do is give them a proposal.Ask them to first get you a prepaid cell phone, and if you can keep control of your usage, then that will gain TRUST.And after a while ask for a phone with a plan.I am 23 and had cell phones for years. After a while it gets tiring and the only reason I use it now is for convenience. And it was a waste of money, so I now use a boost mobile. You just put money in yourself.I bought it with a $20 calling card and the total cost after activation was about $120.$80 for the phone, $20 for the starter kit, and a$20 boost card.Just keep putting in minutes.I have about $50 in my phone now.I had it for about 2 monthsAnd I only needed to put in $20 twice so far.But the downside is, you have to put in at least $20 within 3 months or they cancel your phone and take all your minutes. But that is only $20 every 3 months. You can save and buy it yourself. And when you get tired of it(bc of your age) your parents will see your sense of responsibility and buy you a phone with a plan.

In this day and age the best reason to give for getting a cell phone is safety. If you will be working after school your parents should be happy to have a way to keep in contact with you. Be sure to tell your parents that you will be responsable for the bill. Try getting inormation from Pre-paid cell phone companies like www.metropcs.com which for $50 or so bucks a month has unlimited texting, local and long distance or Boost Mobile: which allows you to buy prepaid call cards in $20, $30 and $50 increments, or add minutes to phones via a credit card. Try saving the money needed to buy the initial phone. This will definitly help when it comes time to show your side....and by all means....DON"T WHINE! For example...but MOOOOOOM, I have got to have it now! Showing your maturity in the sitution will win them over much quicker. GOOD LUCK!

Do what I did.

Find someone with an old cellphone.
Find someone with an old sims card.

Get both of them, make sure both are pre-paid.

Save up $10 or so and go buy minutes, pay the .50 a day for unlimited texting and your fine.

Your parents never have to pay a single red cent and since your getting a job you can always have minutes.

At 14 you don't have a need for a cell phone.
Unless maybe your'e alone at home and may need to call 911.

But like many have said here, there are flat rate plans by most cell phone providers. I think T-Mobile
haas a rate plan of all you can text for $3.99 a month.

quiet down, take a breather. a pair deep, sluggish breaths. Now, permit's verify the situation. i visit permit you comprehend at once out-- it quite is not impossible that he might desire to be cheating. the only reason that I say it quite is on account which you for sure have not any have faith in him. it quite is basically been 5 hours. He might desire to have had a family emergency, or gotten caught up in something unrelated to you. that would desire to be the main reasonable reason he hasn't texted you-- he's busy. possibly you adult males have been relationship for a whilst, you have exchanged 'i admire you's, and you spend an excellent style of time with one yet another. possibly this could be a clean dating. the two way, there might desire to be some commencing up of have faith, which i don't see. you're quite overreacting, nevertheless. in simple terms supply him a while and each thing will shake out :)

Well first off you should convince them to get you a pre paid one first so that way their credit won't get hurt if you happen to over text and then after a while proving them you won't text as much try again. If that don't work then tell them that T-mobile has a family deal with unlimited text for 39. a month/.

While they are quite handy, I don't really think young teens need them. Seriously. People got along fine without cell phones before. My parents were the same way. I only got one this year (I'm 16, 17 next month) because I was paying for it. Maybe after you get your job and can pay for it yourself, then ask if you can get one.

You can get unlimited texting for like $5 a month with most companys. Tell them if anything were to ever happen to you you would need a phone to call for help.

Tell them to get you a one year plan with unlimited texts in which you would help pay. Also explain to them how much you need a cell phone. If this doesnt convinces them, get a to go phone in which you dont need a plan and you pay for your monthly services upfront.
