I am not an environmental activist. As a matter of a fact, I am an average American who had not paid any attention to the environment the majority of my life. However, I have recently had an environmental science class, and I have also been paying attention to the news. I am not asking whether or not you agree with the experts. I am simply begging you to think about it. In this situation, if the experts are right and we do nothing, then our children may have to suffer for our mistakes. But in this situation, if the experts are wrong and we do take action, we will all still reap the benefits. Some ideas might even bring down utility prices. PLEASE just name one thing and come back and look at the list and see if there is one thing you personally are willing to do. I promise I will do the same. NO I promise to do two of them. THANK YOU will all my heart.

Consume less.

Truly consume less.

Buy fewer things.

Do without everything they sell at Target, Wal-Mart, and K-Mart. And don't just buy them at Macy's. Convince yourself that you don't need it, or get it secondhand or through eBay, where it's already been recycled. This will force you to buy a lot less stuff, as it will be too much hassle to search for secondhand or off-market sources for all the stuff we think we need (but only just want).

Prove you're consuming less by weighing your garbage each week. Try to reduce the amount of stuff you have to throw away, whether it is for recycling or regular garbage. For example, instead of patting yourself on the back for recycling soda cans, quit buying soda and drink water from the tap with a filter. Voila! Instant reduction in garbage.

The more we consume, the worse it will be for ourselves and our kids in the future.

Besides electing a President who's got an interest in environmental issues I'd say the first thing would be to end our addiction to fossil fuel. You ask for one but here's another, find more ways to use recyclable trash.......
