Crying sometimes feels real good. Otherwise, it'll build up which is a very bad thing. My psichiatrist says I developed bi-polar disorder because I did that. With the new born baby situation, I don't think they're old enough to feel sorry for anything because they have not learned that emotion through experience yet.

Crying can be a healthy release of all your emotions inside. Now if it happens several times a day 24/7 there may be a problem. But if it is done in moderation, crying is healthy and an important part of life. It shows a persons sensitive side and show that they do have a heart which is fragile and can be broken. I think people that don't cry have issues, and are rather cold-hearted.

Crying is a good way for your body to release your emotions. Toxins will build up in your body if you don't. That is why when a lot of people get to the end of their ropes they start crying. There's nothing self-pitying about purging yourself. Your friend is an ingnoramous.

Crying is good emotional relief but only if you do it in moderation, too much is just self pity but every once in a while it is a good thing to just have a good cryâ¥

I think it can be both, it depends on the person and also the situation, I know i cry when i feel low, i can't help it, it just comes out, If i see something really sad on TV , i get teary.. I know for a fact that I feel better within myself after a good cry, they say it releases some chemical to make us feel better.. but there have been times in the past when i was younger, that i have cried to gain sympathy..lol I think your friend is hard hearted. I hope she doesn't have kids..lol she would probably make a mean mummy...lol

I think it's good emotional relief. Sometimes you just need a good cry. And what about when people are so happy they cry? Does that constitute self pity? I think not.

Both. And your friend has a partially correct answer too. It's also a good decoy to get out of trouble when you can seduce someone into feeling sorry for you so they won't blame you for something. It avoids self responsibility, which is a shameful way to grow up, which usually never happens when people use crying as a ploy. God Bless you.

Sorry, but that's a very stupid point of view. Of course, it can be self-pity.
But it doesn't have to be.
And - babies cry because they feel unhappy.
Crying is perfectly alright as long as you don't use it to blackmail others into doing what you want because they pity you.
Crying can be a relief.

Crying is only done to be selfish and it is an act of self-pity. It is a way to make sure you are the centre of attention.
