So what chance have we got in having the 2012 Olympic Park built on time and at what cost to the local tax payer?

You're right we can't, but we did contract it out to an Australian firm for some reason.

We should look at whoever built the Arsenal stadium (I'm not a gooner either before anyone starts). It's just down the road from where I live and was built from start to finish in 2 years and is absolutely amazing. It's also not too much smaller than Wembley.

Most importantly of all they said when they started to build it that it would be ready for the start of this season and it is. All we need to do is find out who built it and get the Olympic committee to use them and all will be fine

WHY are you still whining? The 2012 games will go off without a hitch and the costs will be mitigated by the revenues... do some research, the TV revenues alone are worth about 1.7 BILLION dollars, then there are coporate sponsorships. You either have to over build or be a moron to NOT make money. The '84 & '96 games in the US were VERY profitable.

but we knew that when we gave the contract to a private company

our 'private' market is not as competitive as the usa, so private companies know there is nowhere else we can go and simply wait for more public money to be pumped in

the 2012 olympics is a different story, we have to achieve that as the olympics is a much bigger event and we will never be taken seriously ever again as a nation if we dont

sure that is a impressive stadium even if that is ENGLANDS stadium, no longer London's, so why no longer construct it smack bang in the technique england? it makes it accesable to everyone, and besides, there are merely ever going to be Arsenal, Chelsea or Totenham taking area in there. at the same time as England play there, human beings in the North of england ought to ought to go back and forth in extra of two hundred miles, while if it were better suitable, the furthest human beings ought to ought to go back and forth may be 100-100 thirty miles, thats tops (even if that is a huge tournament) 2-3 hours with suggestions from motor vehicle, rather of two-3 hours in case you stay in London (because the line structures there are so appauling) and four-6 hours in case you stay everywhere better north than Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds or Newcastle...yet nonetheless, everyone in England stay in London do not they?

Local tax payer - who kmows, but I live just outside of Mayor Ken's fiefdom, so no cost to me!

As long as we don't get the Aussies to build it and the FA to manage the project, we might have a chance.

Well for some reason we decided to let Australians build Wembley. As long as we build the olympic facilities ourselves, hopefully it will be ok.

I know its hysterical. Have you heard the arguing and shaping up for a court battle thats been going on? Its a proper blamestorm and no mistake.

Its potential to become a very expensive international embarassment is high.
