They found a second stone last week ( I had the first one two and a half years ago) and now they need to break it up, so I can pass it. Last time they used a stent, to help me pass it and I thought it was horrible. I just can't tolerate pain and am so scared. Wondering if the nurse telling me not to smoke 24 hours prior the procedure is a must follow rule, as I really don't think I can do that, I am addicted smoker. Just please, any info would be greatly appreciated!! One more last thing - as I love jogging and haven't been able to do that since last Thursday, how long after this procedure it would be possible for me to start jogging again. Don't be surprised that I smoke and jog, it is just how I have been.. I can't quit smoking and I don't want to stop jogging. Thanks a lot, and good luck to all of you!!

you've had the lithotripsy and a stent before, "(I had the first one two and a half years ago)" Or perhaps you simply passed a smaller stone, tho' if you've had a stent, then you have likely had the lithotripsy before too, they are placed afterwards to drain the sand that comes from the breaking down of the stones. Lithotripsy is not painful, you usually recieve sedation for the procedure, after, if there is a great deal of debris they will insert a stent for about a week.....you should not jog until the stent is removed. Not smoking reduces the risk of respiratory depression during the procedure. Get some nicorette gum, and don't smoke, it will pay off in the long run.
