Yes, they can be hunted in my state. I do, however, want to keep the cardinals, blue jays and finches. A food they do not like or spraying them with water?

I used to have them nest in my hanging plants. They are so annoying. They startle me every time they take off. I enjoy most birds but I detest Mourning Doves. We have tons of them in SoCal. Now I put little stakes in my hanging baskets, just 3 or 4 sticking up so there is no place to nest.

I have a client with 2 patios. A Mourning Dove kept nesting(before I put the stakes) in her hanging Spider Plant. I even watered the bird whilst in the plant and she still wouldn't leave.

Good luck :-)

Pretty much anything you do to get rid of the mourning doves will scare away the other birds too.

I do have a good recipe though if you decide to terminate them....

By personal observation I know that a sharp shinned hawk is an excellent control for mourning dove.

If you own, try getting rid of your exotic plants and trees and replacing with natives. They attract more native birds, less pidgeons.
I totally understand. I rent, and we have an owl on the house and everything, and they just won't go away.

You can't. Anything you'd do to them would scare off the other birds. Sorry.
