What grade are you in? Or are you in college? This makes a difference to which topics I recommend. I took a class (College) a couple years ago called Science, Technology, and Values. So I know what you're asking. consider the fololowing topics:

- The Hydrogen-Powered Car
- How greeks didn't consider their steam engine used to open doors technology becuase it wasn't used for anything useful
- Causes and effects of media development (how we're spending more time communicating over an electronic medium rather than face to face)
- Do you see jobs increasing or decreasing with the creation of technology? Why? How? Will there be a change in the way people work? Describe it.

Hope I helped! :)

How about converting garbage into fuel? That pretty much cover options 1, 2 and 3 (and if you work out the global issues maybe 4 as well).

Follow these links and be enlightened.

The article that first brought it up to the general public (at least to me)
http://www.discover.com/issues/jul-04/features/anything-into-oil/

A bit of background on what it is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_depolymerization

The company that is actually doing it
http://www.changingworldtech.com/

You can also do web search on "thermal depolymerization", as Discover ran several update articles, the last one was in April of this year, if I am not mistaken.

You can go to NASA's main page and find info and links to help you. This is stuff NASA has been working on since it was founded. My Uncle works for NASA and gave me a couple of binders on Energy from NASA, I gotta tell ya they have tried and experimented on almost every type of energy you can imagine and some you can't.

Hope this helps.
