I am a primary teacher and I am constantly getting requests from parents for me to tutor their children. Can anyone give me an idea of what the rate is for private tutoring?

I'm a 3rd grade teacher and am currently tutoring a student at $20 an hour. The teacher next to me charges $25. I live in NC. If your state has a higher standard of living, push for more. I was amazed at how much people charge. It took me a few sessions before I got over my guilt for charging so much. Working one on one doing the job I normally do is just too easy. :)

I am also a tutor, and I usually charge 30 dollars an hour. I also recommend 2 days a week, if the child is really having difficulties. Some of my friends tutor, and charge 50 an hour, and get it!!1 I teach at a private school, and the sky is the limit.

The sky is the limit. I charge anywhere from $30 to $50 an hour. If I tutor students from the school where I teach, I charge $50 just because I know that it is an affluent area. Others, I'll charge $30 and sometimes as low as $20.

I tutored when I was a student (I'm also a primary teacher), I charged $25/hr, but I think up to $30/hr is okay. It really depends on the children you are tutoring. Right now I teach at an inner city school so I offer it for free.

Depends on the district, usually there is a set rate charged by contracted tutors. In my district it is up to 35 and hour. I have witnessed some teachers charge up to 50 an hour.l

My district pays $45/hour for anything its teachers do outside the regular school day, like home bound and summer school, so the teachers usually ask for something comparable when tutoring. I would base your hourly rate on what your district offers for those type of extras.

If your students are low SES I would charge maybe 5$ /half hour. If they are well-to-do I would charge 20$. If they are well-to-do and you are doing a specialized area such as Spanish, music, etc. I would try 30-40$$$

Seriously, I don't know what the rate is, but I would charge at least $20 per hour.
