I think it depends on what is out of sight if it will be out of mind. I have not seen by natural father in 24 years but not a day goes by that I don't think about him. I haven't seen my a friend from kindergarten since 3rd grade but I haven't thought of her until you asked this question.

In general yes. However certain events/subjects that are etched deeply in your mind do remind you of that particular incident whether the subject is in front of you or not

No. Just think about dead relatives or friends. I have never seen my nephews but i think about them every single day.
