For me, it's a definite yes. without looking at the screaming, the lyrics themselves are so thought provoking. I know that people are always talking bad about it, but if you're not into it, just read the lyrics, especially the band called underoath. God bless you all

Metal is awesome, and i think it's only getting better...and not all metal bands scream...just look at Soilwork, on their newer albums their front man uses more melodic singing without loosing the genre's intensity. I recommend the albums Natural Born Chaos and Figure Number Five for those of you who haven't heard Soilwork...they own

So that's what the appeal of new metal is? the lyrics? ok now i get it - everyone is all wrapped up in reading the cd liners and lyrics and the imagery of a band - whereas i come from a metal period where the musicianship matters.

I like lighter metal......Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest....stuff like that.
I love Megadeth's lyrics. I love that they're political, and meaningful, but not overly religious or gorey.
The bands I just listed are about as far into metal as I get.

i agree. Underoath does have meaning full lyrics. metal is underrated, and thats probably why people dont listen to it, because they think its all screaming, and its not.

yes but it was provoking in the 80- 90's but its standard music now .. metal rulez .........
