There is so much furniture that gets thrown out at college campuses, and I feel that if a store was to recover used furniture, fix it up, paint it to order, etc., there could be alot of inexpensive, really cool looking, really comfortable funiture sold.

Yeah, but I don't think you'd have too much business to be honest. People will be looking for furniture at the beginning of the year, and that's it. After a few weeks or months, people in general accept their dorms or apartments as they are. College kids are lazy and VERY cheap:). Most of the people I know use plastic lawn chairs...lol. Maybe you can do a giant one-time a year thing. It can start a few weeks before college, and go into a few weeks after classes start. But why not open it up to the public? You would have more customers.

I think it would be cool. I'm not on campus anymore, but once upon a time, I had this really comfy couch that my parents had bought when they first got married. My dad didn't want to haul it 200 miles again, so he told me to find a new home for it. It could've used a recovering or something. I was able to sell it "as is" for like $5-$10, but probably could've gotten a little more had it been cleaned and recovered.

You might, and it's a good idea, but how many people would actually BUY the stuff? Thats what you have to worry about. But i do agree, there is a lot of good furniture thrown out, and you could do some cool stuff with it...

It wouldn't work. I get my furniture the same way as any other college student: DUDE! Did you see that couch back there?! That was a freakin' awesome couch. Turn around! Call your friend with the truck! That's a money-loss venture, my friend.

I think that is a good idea, but it would be hard for the students to plan for something like that. They wouldn't know if anything available would interest them and they wouldn't know how much they would have to choose from.

I dont think so most freshman coming in mommy and daddy already buy everything that is needed and much more un-needed things...if they threw it out....somebody else would pick it up....plus college kids are so broke they wouldnt wanna spend their money on used items....thats my opinion...
