I am getting ready to call my OB and ask for a new birthcontrol. As I posted before I was trying to start the new one Loestrin 24 however to order 3 months worth it cost $100.00. That is a bit steep for our income so I wanted to find another one that might be a generic (They are only $25.00/ 3 months) that comes highliy reccommended from actual people who take it (My ob/gyn is male so I don't think he really understands the whole ...I gained 20 lbs on the last one lost my sex drive and now it doesn't really do all that much for acne problem) I have been on Trinessa 28 day tab for 3 years and was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for a year prior to that. They kept me from getting preg but as I mentioned I didn't have some pleasant side efffects either. So...if you could tell me the one you like best and why I would appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

I'm rare...I'm on depo provera and I love it (few women do). It has been known to contribute to weight gain, however I gain and lose on or off birth control and have gone from a size 12 to a size 8 in the past year while on it...I stopped menstruating years ago (side effect of the shot) and would stay on it for that side effect alone...

Something to possibly investigate for yourself. One injection costs about $60 and lasts for 3 months. You are "safe" immediately after getting your first injection.

I've known more people who couldn't take it (or didn't like it) than those that could due to break through bleeding, and the weight gain...those side effects however do not affect everyone...guess I'm lucky...and glad I am.

you could try Alesse 28. I am on it now and did NOT gain weight. I actually lost about 12 pounds, but that could be unrelated. I live in CANADA so my prescriptions are covered, and I don't even know how much it would cost without coverage. I haven't lost my sex drive either!

If you want good protection with little maintenence, try the woman condom! It is very simple to use and has a very good protection percentage!

All birth controle has the same effectincy rate. (99.9%) It just depends on what you prefer
shot- 1 every 3 months
pill- every day
patch- replaced once a week for 3 weeks, removed for a week to get your period, and put back on after that week.

However, I would recommend the patch just because I am also on it. I dont want a needle in my butt first of all. It also causes weight gain. The pill causes weight gain and is a every day responsibility. the patch however is weekly, not painful, and does not cause weight gain.

I use Seasonale. I pay $75 for it, but it's a three month pack. I love it because instead of being miserable two weeks every month, I'm just Ehhhh for ten days every three months.
