He was drunk. I doubt he was thinking.
His second, more specific, apology, was accepted this morning, with an offer to help Mel overcome his drinking problem. When that's done, there is a standing offer to help him combat his prejudice.

It is illegal and unethical to criticize Jews and Israel. Everything they do is OK--it is God's WILL and they are the Chosen People, if you know what I mean. When people understand this, incidents like the Mel Gibson thing will stop happening. Everything the Jews do is wonderful and sanctioned by God. The 10 Commandments, by the way, only pertain to the Jews, everyone else is sub-human in their eyes and laws, so they can do a lot of things to us and the LAWS will not affect them.

He was mad that he grew that big ol' ZZ Top beard and they STILL wouldn't let him become Hassiddic. If Mel really hates Jews, he picked the wrong business and the wrong place to live. About the only showbiz gig he could get right now would probably be a steel cage wrestling match against Goldberg.

In my honest opinion, yes. Celebs are often looked at by "Common Folks" as role models, an act like this is simply careless, and he should be punished like a "commoner", unfortunately since he is famous, he'll get a mere "slap on the wrist" treatment, whereas most people would be fine hell-aciously, and/or thrown in prison. It doesn't matter that he is an actor/producer/director etc. etc. he should pay for his mistakes JUST like everyone else!

Do you really believe that he actually thinks? He glorifies violence - the more the better and is proud of it. He says he portrays history in his films but they are pure fantasy, and sick fantasy at that. What he said was what he meant. In his line of work you keep your real opinions hidden if they would affect your career; trouble is when Gibson got drunk he couldn't control himself and his real views became exposed for all to see. I hope this costs him his career because he deserves it.
