A High School Psychopath

I was a geek. I am a geek. Hurray!

I did fit the "geek" persona pretty well. Given the umbrella that's come to provide shelter for, it's pretty hard not to fit into it. Geek tended to be the title that those who didn't fit in other categories took on. Usually though it implied some level of intelligence and skill that was often looked down upon by more popular crowds as well, which I also would like to think I possess.

It didn't bother me that I wasn't "popular", as I had friends whose company I genuinely enjoyed and could trust. It only really hurt when the "popular" crowd chose to make me feel bad for being who I was (and am). It's hard to overcome how it made me feel about myself to be ridiculed for being overweight (read: fat girl), and for being ostracised often just for that quality. Among the geeks, my appearance was accepted no matter the appearance of the others there. Now I'm fighting the hard fight to consider myself beautiful no matter what I weigh.

... And what a hard fight it is.

I was all of it... Rocker, punk, bully, popular, unpopular, nice girl, rocker slut, promiscuous, sweet, bi, straight, druggie, smarter than most of them test wise and yet in the foo-foo classes for behavioral modification. ... all of it! And I only went for 3 years before I dropped out and got married...

I have always (from a very young age) lived my life as if it were a huge experiment and I kind of ran between the gangs and had friends (and enemies) in most of the popular and unpopular groups. I never settled into one group or habit. I moved too much for that...

honestly... I thought they were all a bunch of conformist tools, and they probably still are all and each with both merits and faults alike and evenly etched and notched into their little lives and their little minds. But what are ya gonna do right? Everyone has their reasons for being and doing what they do. none are really any better or any different.

The rockers hate the glitters for being fake and phony and yet they are too... It is called posers

The punks hate conformity and social restraint and yet they are the first to group together and all dress alike.

The smart kids hate the delinquents but secretly envy their freedom and lack of restraint.

It is all the same sh*it different day. Big whoop!

That... Is why the breakfast club was so damn popular.

I was the nerd. I stood out because in my high school it wasn't cool to speak proper english. Which I always have. I read books no else did. Everyone was all about being in a fashion show or a Gang Banger and I was very nerdy and preppy. But what I have learned about standing out and fitting in is that: One should never try to "fit in" to whatever group they find themselves apart of as this will only make you stand out more. The solution is to become accustomed to standing out.

I was universally ridiculed and didn't really hang with any specific group. I floated around. I was "friends" with lot's of different groups, but not close to anyone at all. I didn't get them and they didn't get me. I have no idea how people percieved me. Probably as nothing more romantic than a lanky idiot.

My friend (who I went to school with, but wasn't friends with her until afterwards) recently confessed that she doesn't remember me at all from school, even though we were in loads of the same classes.

guess i was a bit schizophrenic middle class, friends with cheerleaders.. but friends with nerds.. rude to no one. Usually fit in where ever I was. Military Brat move a lot makes friends fast because they never lasted long. honor roll but didn't care to hand out with smarty pants. that's about it and i guess I'm still that way:-)
