It depends on the material of the shirt. You should only sew a little bit of the bra to a little bit of the shirt though. But here is another idea for you. Try pins. Get the little ones and I think you can even find them in color. Instead of sewing and possibly wrecking your shirt just pin it for the night and your good to go!

I really think you should just find a lovely bra
that would accent your shirt. Why go through
all that work to sew one in and this way you get
to keep your bra and the lovely shirt. You might
want to wear this shirt with other items.

I would look at a similar shirt to what you want to do. And see how it is constructed.
If you own the items take them with you to a Hancock's Fabric store near you and ask for if a clerk there has experience with sewn in bras.
They might be able to help you. Your next best bet is to ask at your family's church, likely to be tons of sewers there.
