Hi, my truck has some alloy or chrome wheels that are covered with brake dust and grime, I cant get them to shine like they did when I bought my truck back in 2004. When I wash them, I use Armor All wheel cleaner, I follow the instructions, spray on the wheel, let it soak for a minute then hose it off, but still the brake dust remains. How can I get my wheels looking bright and shiny like they used to be? what products or methods can I use to do it?

those spray and rince things never work, get down and dirty and clean the wheels with a scrub brush and soap when you wash it. after its done and dry, use a chrome polish (like mothers). just read the instructions, it will shine like its never shined before :) oh and after thats done, spray on some tire wet on the tires, the kind that is foam where you just spray and it disolves, works great and easy to use, makes a biig difference.

There is a unique product from Mother's Wax called a Powerball Mini. It attaches to an electric drill and along with Mother's wheel polish or other brand, it buffs your wheels fast and gives you a great result. I have not seen another product that works as fast. I am not sure where you can buy one, but go on mothers.com

Good old fashoned elbow grease works well. I have an old trick that works great but it will take a while. I rub white toothpaste all over my rim and let it dry completely. Then buff it off.(like wax) Rinse and dry. I guarantee they'll shine like new.

be careful with wheel/tire shine....it'll dry-rot your tires and eventually leave oxidation spots on your wheels. Also be careful not to get it on your rotors, it'll scar them up and cause your brakes to squeak. I use Murhpy's Oil Soap on everything from the dashboard to the tires and wheels. Good luck
