They are magnetic waves don't need any medium to travel. So it is not like sound wave where you need air. These magnetic waves will travel in vacuum and in air

Since the time of the Greeks, it was speculated that light (and by extension, microwave and radiowaves) traveled thru a medium called the "aeather". This was disproven to exist in the famous Michelson-Morley experiment in 1879.

Radio waves, light waves, and microwaves aparently travel without a medium required. The other quesiton is- is the radio frequencys are they a wave form or are they particles?
