I don't mind that people come here for a better life. . . but why don't they learn the language? I know that its a hard language, but still. Why do they call my place of business and get angry at me because I speak very little spanish? I wouldn't go to Mexico and get angry at people who don't speak English!!! Now, to better myself in my job, I need to go take my time to go learn another language. AAHHHH! This is so frustrating. I end up looking like an a$$ because I don't know the language from another country. Yes, I understand that times are changing, but why do I have to take my time to learn YOUR language, when you didn't take your time to learn MINE????!!!!

Good question. Wish some of the Spanish speaking people would answer this truthfully. I have an Aunt who over 50 years ago came to the United States not speaking English, but she didn't ask us to learn Japanese, she learned English so why can't everyone else. If they don't want to learn English, then don't come here. Ever heard the saying.... when in Rome do as the Romans do, well, that works here in America too.

It is hard to learn a new language. Americans are terrible at languages because our vowels are different sounding than other European languages. We didn't go through a linguistic change that occurred several 100 years ago that the other European languages underwent. Also language instruction is lacking in the USA. This is one reason I don't get angry with our new countrymen, because Americans abroad are even WORSE!! They demand everything to be in ENGLISH. I see someone saying the foreigners are lazy, unfortunately so are Americans in many cases.

To tell you the truth, I have no idea, I think, that they are too lazy to that. As far as I'm concerned, I am from Georgia, besides, I know Russian, English and study German, intend to study Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.

Because we make it very easy now for them not to learn English.
Not only do we avoid English immersion for parents, but we also nurture avoidance of it in children at school.

ALOT OF THEM GET ALONG JUST FINE W/ THEIR OWN, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO BEING ABLE TO COMMUNICATE W/ OTHERS.
THEY REALLY DON'T CARE UNLESS THEY REALLY HAVE TO,
AND NORMALLY ALOT OF BUSINESSES, DO HAVE PEOPLE THAT SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE,
HIRED JUST FOR THAT,
MAYBE YOU SHOULD AS WELL,
IF NOT YOU HAVE TO TRY TO GET ALONG W/ THEM AS THEY W/ YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
