I heard that you are supposed to draw the line upwards and outwards on your upper lids, because if you follow the natural curve of your eye, you will get "piglet eyes." Is this true? I tried drawing the line up and out, but it looked pretty strange. Thanks for your help!

I have never heard of piglet eyes. It does help if you gently pull the outer corner of your eye until your eye closes and then apply the line.

Just follow the natural line of your eye. Start in the middle and go out to the end. Then draw the line from the inside to the middle to connect it. Take a sponge type tip brush which is attached to some eyeliners and smear the line for a more natural look.

Eyeliner that doesn't follow the natural line of the eye can work to make eyes look larger, but it only works if you really know what you are doing. I used to be a model years ago, and for most 'day' makeup situations we didn't even use eyeliner. If you want your makeup to look good, it is worth the time and money to go to a local model agency and take a course in make-up application.
Good luck.

Everyone applies makeup differently. A girlfriend and I were giving a makeup lesson to a friend the other day and we laughed because she and I totally didn't agree on how to do everything.

Really, follow your instincts. Try it and see if you like it and if not, don't do it.

When I apply eyeliner to my upper lid, I follow the natural curl of my eye but only apply it from the middle of my lid to the outer edge. Lining the entire lid makes your eyes look smaller.

What you described sounds more like Cleopatra makeup and I don't think I'd like it either

If you are applying liner to the top lid, it should not extend past the last lash, it is also best to apply liner right next to/above your top lashes...if applying to the bottom, it is best to line along the natural line of your lash (not the inner part of the eye where the liner is constantly touching your eyeball) and only extend the liner to the end of the lashes there as well..do not extend your liner all the way to the point of the eye on the inside (next to your nose) as this does close in your eye, it can also cause your eye to water, or the liner or makeup to "gunk" up in the corners of your eye.
Remember, when dealing with your eyes it is safe and healthy to not interfere with any part of your "eyeball" or moist part of your eye.

For an everyday liner look, follow the natural curve of your eye, close to the lash line...If you're not used to wearing liner, go with a brown or gray instead of black, it'll be less drastic as you learn what looks good on you!

I put it under my lashes.....I use a soft pencil and lift my lid and go into the underside of my lashes....NO BLACK!
I put a little more on outer corners at night upper and lower.
If I really want drama I line the top lid and go straight across which gives my eyes a upward slant....

you should draw the line really close to your eye lashes almost as if your trying to draw the line on the lashes. that way you can have a thin line and since you colored the edges of your eye lash it looks darker. Try adding a small amount of mascara and a good lip gloss :P

Yes, you should follow the natural curve of your eye. Eyeliner is supposed to enhance and bring out the color of your eyes, not reshape them. If you want to reshape them, you need to see a plastic surgeon. If you don't follow the curve of your eye, it'll look completely fake and tacky.

I think following the natural curve of your eye is easiest and looks the best. It doesn't look too dark if you use a color other than black (brown works for me).
