Turd is a lovely word, falling nicely between the comical "poop" and the obscene "sh*t".
I hadn't used it at all for many years, until quite recently, in fact. When I signed on to Yahoo! Answers it came right back to me. I've probably used it ten times in the past week. Sometimes no other word will do. It's getting so I can type it faster than I can my own name. Any differences in nuance between the three words are, of course, quite subtle, but fortunately there are no shortages of turds, sh!ts, and poops about on which to polish this particular linguistic skill.
It enjoys the added benefit of remaining uncensored, as do, incidentally, "dildo","dumbass", and yes, "asswipe".
The delightfully honest Yahoo! spell checker was even good enough to correct my misspelling of "dildos" which, in the Dan Quayle tradition, I had rendered with an "e".

No but I've called a brown car that a friend of mine was driving that is here husband's who she's seperated from because that's what it looks like. My friend called it a turd so I just went along with her.
