Nope, there was no time-table set in those comments.

Furthermore, he said that Iraq would be able to finance a lot of its reconstruction and costs to transform the nation. We went to war, and we are responsible for a lot of what we are paying for now. Iraq is not in any position economically to pay for what's needed. In time they will be, and it would mean a powerful alliance in the Middle East if everything works out.

No, he didn't flip-flop. He believed that through the sale of Iraqi oil on the world market, it would cover the war's expenses. He didn't backtrack to say anything else.

It appears you liberals are getting flop sweat with it getting so close to election time that you have to resort to tactics as yours.

The war will pay for itself - when democracy takes root all over that region and there are strong, vital democracies in place to handle all of their own issues and become open, free market countries.

Liberals are too dim and too impatient to see that the future is bright for that region, and that the dividends being sown right now will pay huge rewards to future generations. Liberals are too lazy and too selfish to sacrifice anything for the future - they are always whining and crying for their handouts, right now...

i would say as bush sayes he has a plan and he is going to stick to that plan no matter what. so this would be more of a misrepersntation on his part but many would say it was a lie to carry out his plan for this scam of a war. i think if you follow the money being made or as many are saying stolen from this war you may see why bush had this plan. god help us. good question thanks.

He didn't flip flop, he was just WRONG, like he was WRONG about all things Iraq.

He was speaking metaphorically, Iraq won't net any monetary rewards, however it will net security and a stable oil producer.

Not only do we pay for it from the military point of view... we fund it from the other side as well... we keep having to buy oil from the middle-east which they use their profits (from us) to fight against our military!
