Is it just me or is it completely disrespectful to compare our President to Hitler? I've seen this "question" about a million times on here, and it really bugs me. What bugs me the most is that the majority of people asking this question are Americans. I mean, I don't agree with President Bush either, but he IS our President. He was voted by a majority twice to lead the country, and even if he's not doing it to satisfaction he still holds a very respectable office and deserves some sort of dignity and respect with his title as President of the United States of America. Not to mention that Hitler killed millions of people - including torturing them for medical experiments and humiliating them. Not to mention the fact that he separated families and tattooed serial numbers to human beings like cattle. In my opinion, those who survived or those who lost loved ones to the Holocaust should be greatly and deeply offended. All I have to say is thank God for freedom of speech. So is it just me?

I have to admit, so far I love how everyone thinks I love Bush. To be honest, I'm democrat. But it just so happens I have something called perspective. It's nice to know though that the people in this country are taking their freedoms for advantage and using them to slander their own government. I'm not saying you have to agree with it all - I'll be the first one to step up and say that President Bush is screwing a lot of things up. At the same time, I'll be the first person to stand up and defend this country and what we stand for. You don't have to agree - but if you open your mouth to say something negative, make sure it makes sense and it's actually an intellectual agrument.
The truth is, all you people who believe President Bush is the same thing as Hitler - well, you wouldn't last a day in country that's not Democratic. So remember that the next time you read something, and realize that if you wrote that about Hitler or most Middle East leaders, you'd already be dead.

He most certainly is not a "Hitler." The comparison is completely unfair and without merit. Weather you like the man or not, I believe that the office of the President of the United States of America does deserve some respect.
Say it were to happen. A Hitler somehow fools the whole country and gets elected. How long would you think it would be before he is thrown out of office? President Clinton was almost thrown out for having an inappropriate relationship. Certainly not an offense remotely close to Hitlerism.
Checks and balances, to a large degree, make the office of the President respectable. It has merit and validity. And is worthy of some respect.
These kind of assertions are not ones that are made by thoughtful people who understand world history. Ask the average high school graduate where a country is and you'll get some interesting answers. (Insert plug for a better education system here.)
It is also interesting to note that many members of the press, today, omit the title "President" from references to President Bush. Instead they just say "Bush" or "Clinton." This was not the case when I was growing up. I was corrected when I left one's title off--even if it was just a Mr. or Mrs.
I personally don't like the job President Bush is doing but at least I show some respect for the office and some thought into my retorts.

its not just you, it is disrespectful. It is really easy to quarterback from the couch and say it is all wrong. But I bet you are not getting all the info that Bush is. There could be a thousand more things that are going on then we know, and he might be doing what has to be done. You dont know and I dont know. But comparing him to a mass murderer and vicisous leader that tried to kill all jews, that is not fair in the least. Everyone has an opinion, but if they cant be nice they can just be silent. Too many people missed that day in ettitquitte class.
We voted for him. If you did not, then you happen to live in a democracy and were voted down sorry. If you did, you got what you asked for. The man is doing is best for the country I do not doubt that for a minute. He is doing what he must and what he thinks is right. So far I have not seen any jets running into building or other big attacks on US soil. Seems to me he must be doing SOMETHING right because we are all here, able to express our feelings no matter how right or wrong we might be, enjoying freedoms most of the world does not have, because of actions he is taking or our military is on his behalf. And there are sure to be hundreds of things going on we dont even know about protecting our ability to be able to call Bush Hitler without worrying about unsympathetic men coming to our door to question us.
Enjoy the freedoms we have and if you think that Bush is doing such a bad job, I beleive there are plenty of jobs available in Afghanstan, Iran, Iraq and Saudia Arabia. Maybe you will like things better there

It's difficult to understand that a person from your country could be so worked up over another persons constitutional right of free speech. Yeah, he's your president, but come on, he's an idiot.
Is he Hitler...no. Hitler was a very evil and disturbed man. Also, Hitler was very intelligent. I don't think Bush has any of those attributes.
I'm a Canadian and am absolutely dumbstruck by the amount of BS to fly through cyberspace from American keyboards. You make yourself look like an idiot in your own question. You condemn people for voicing opinions which compare Buch to Hitler and end with the line "All I have to say is thank God for freedom of speech."

First, I should point out before anyone else does that Bush did not win a majority of popular votes in 2000. but he was elected President twice under our system. Maybe a small matter, but whatever.
I notice some people call Hillary Clinton "Hitlery." I think it would be hard to find people who support both, or who detest both, so I bring up that example. She's not president, but it's a similar issue.
I think that Hitler was horrifically evil - responsible for tens of millions of deaths.
Like almost everyone else, of the two politicians I mentioned I support one and dislike the other.
I would never liken either to Hitler. It's an insult, and it cheapens the memory of Hitler's evil.
But then again, people have the right to say what they want, even if it makes them sound stupid.

I haven't been on here in quite awhile so I haven't seen any of those questions. But I agree with you. Why on earth would anyone compare our president to Hitler of all people. I completely agree with you that he should be respected. If it really is Americans that are saying that stuff...well, let's just say that I'm American and I don't agree with most of the stuff that Bush does. I didn't vote for him, but the majority of America did. Even though I don't support him, I would NEVER compare him to Hitler.
What comparison is there between those two? Absolutely none that I can think of.

I agree that it is very disrespectful. I do not believe that it is fair, or right to even compare. It offends me as an American citizen that people would act this way. It also offends me that people would discriminate against others who may or may not support the President. Bush lover or not, this country is about the right to have an opinion, so we should be RESPECTFUL of others opinions and not be disrespectful by calling someone names. Something else that bothers me is that the President is also a citizen of this country, and he has every right to have an opinion and a religion, just like everyone else in this country. No matter how radical to others his ideas may be, he has a right to have them and he represents others in this country who may feel the same way. We all have a right to make our ideas heard, and to try to push our own laws and ideas through congress so why shouldnt he. We should all be more respectful of the democratic process.

Well, it is used for a comparison as in "Bush only sees things his way by any means necessary"! So what would be so offensive to Jews, that comparison wasn't used maliciously against them! Lastly, Bush is very self righteous, however I personally don't care if he is disrespected due to the fact that all dignitaries figures get negative press. What makes this so compelling is that he is not remorseful for any of the hardships his decisions has cause fellow Americans to suffer from! Anyhow there is no respect for a liar, he cheated his way into office we never found out if those rigged voting machines in his brothers state oops I mean Florida and lied about a lot of things thus far. My mother always said never trust a liar, because if you lie you will steal and cheat as well! Bush has proved her right! As for the jerk who said no planes flying over American soil as a native Washingtonian in the past two years there were two planes that were privately owned that sent officials evacuating the federal buildings down town which our Mayor was outraged at the weak response!

Yes, you are right it is an insult to Hitler. Hitler was a megalomaniac dictator and a horrible man but he wasn't Vice-President to Dick Cheney...no wait Rumsfeld is the vice-president to Cheney and Bush is....the host of the show...that's it. SNL everyday of the week 24/7. Okay sing along "Springtime for Hitler"...followed by a rousing chorus of "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life." Live broadcast from Golgotha brought to you by every multi-international corporation on the planet. "Long Live The King!" Adolph you should have been there you would have loved the irony.

I think you weren't paying too much attention if you say that a majority of Americans elected Bush--we only had about a 50% turnout, and the first time he didn't even get 50% of that! He may hold an office we should respect, but there is no way I respect the man who holds the office. You thank God for freedom of speech, but Bush has been curtailing our rights in the name of Homeland Security. And maybe he hasn't killed millions, but he has certainly locked up people in Guantanamo without regard for their guilt or innocence, and without allowing them contact with the outside world--sounds like a concentration camp to me.

There is a rule in argument that once a debater mentions Hitler that he loses the argument. It is a good one because AH level evil is pretty up there.
Bush is an evil p#rick but he isn't on the Hitler level. Hitler wanted world domination, Bush just wants money for his oil buddies. So a few thousand of "those people" die. He doesn't care, his daughters are not going to enlist and they aren't going to be drafted. Let the poor die.
