yes i think so because youth and young adults today watch alot of tv, movies, and listen to the radio. People watch tv and think that if they can do it, you can do it too. just like the famous saying 'Monkey see, Money do' XP

I feel what is wrong with youth today isn't tv or music, it's the parents lack of influence in their children's lives. Parents work too hard and spend little time with their kids. I understand the need to work and pay bills but when the parents are at home with their children they don't have family time and get involved with their children's issues. It's easier for parents now a days to sweep things under the rug and just hope that their kids turn out alright. Back in the 50's when the mother stayed home and the father worked, kids weren't screwed up and they didn't have deep emotional issues that kids have to deal with now a days. I wouldn't blame the media, I would blame the parents first. Thank god to my husband who has a good job so I can stay home and raise my children the right way so that they won't be F'd up in the future. I get involved and I am around whenever they need me.

The problem is even more fundamental than that. The real question in my mind is "Why is television so influential on the morals and character of today's youth?"
The only way that TV (good or bad) would be a determiner of youth morals would be if there were no other voices of influence in their lives (parental).
As the plumber said, "Well, THERE's your problem, lady."

I agree with everyone above that is all comes down to parents caring. Its not like a child has to watch 'prime time' tv, or whatever is on. Growing up I was never allowed to watch the Simpsons because it was deemed Inappropriate. Parents today are two caught up with both of them having jobs so they can buy the 50in plasma they dont need.

Yes to a degree, Children are seeing and being stimulated by things they've never before seen in history.
To add to this problem mom is not home. mom has always been the great equalizer, but she's working. example the first time I saw a woman's breast was in a playboy magazine in 1960 . In movies people didn't really kiss , they pressed their lips together. The movies had no sex , gore, or profanity. The in fesses was on love not sex.
And yes, it rubbed off on us as it is today.

Not at all,
Each of us has to make his or her own decisions based on what he or she believes. And while, yes, there are the few morons out there who base their beliefs off of TV, they are the few and sad ones who give the rest of young adults a bad name.
Most of the people I know between the ages of 15 to 25 make their decisions based on real life. They know that TV and music is for entertainment purposes only.

Sure. Blame TV and music for all your problems, so you don't have to take responsibility for raising your own kids with a moral fabric. So easy!

No. Parents are still the primary influences up to the age of about 12. The problem is parents don't have, or don't spend, the time with their children to educate them about how the world works. Maybe the parents haven't even figured it out...sad.
