Today i tried to see if i saw any hispanics like me in Any american channel. Most of them are White, or asian or black( with perfect standard american accents and they also accept Black people with street style accents because they are seen as cool. Why is it tv, doesn't like to show people who have accents but were born in usa and are us citizens? And don't tell me it's about not understanding people like me, cause some White people are also hard to understand. Is it all about racism??

Well that's like trying to find an inter-racial couple on TV; or even in a commercial.

It's just that networks feel that people will not accept accents. I mean, Penelope Cruz had a hard time with her accent, people poked fun of her (granted, she's not Latin American)
Also, when someone has an accent, it's mostly someone who's not native born to the US, so the show producers and writers have to come with a "where is this person from" and change the script to add a story to this person and feel that it's too much. It's easier for them to hire a Smith than to use a Vallejo.

Well for one reason, a large majority of spanish people have their on television networks, and production studios in an abundance! Most of the spanish actors and actresses do not feel the need to cross over because of their tremendous high paying salaries!

Have you seen the homes of the actors and actresses on these Novela's? They are about three times the size of the Mansions own by American Actors, and if the Spanish actor's and actresses did work in Hollywood, they would be in type casted into playing cheap characters, such as: maid's, waiter's, gangbangers, criminals, or poverty stricken families in a poor neighborhood. (So played out)

So the Spanish actresses and actors do not find it necessary to come to America, except to visit and tour the Country, but not for employment! Don't get it twisted, The Spanish holds their own!

We are passed all of that, they do fine without the cross over and they do not need to do it, only if they choose to do so. Plus, alot of Spanish movies are not only viewed in Spanish Countries, but in Europe as well!! and their cash flow, surpasses those of the American Hollywood, Hollywood cannot afford most of the Spanish Actors, most of them gross 20 to 50 million dollars per 5 to 10 picture's, what american actor or actress rocks that kind of loop in Hollywood, they squirm if their motion picture is below 10 or 12 million.

Stop taking this all so personally. In fact, today, there are MANY televisions stations (cable and satellite) that are devoted ENTIRELY to Hispanics and only Spanish is spoken on them!
Many Hispanics are making inroads into television and the movies. In fact, many whites are upset because here in the USA, we tend to "cater" to Hispanic or Spanish speaking people by printing ut everything in Spanish (signs in hospitals, grocery stores, etc.). Also, when you use the telephone, you press one for English and two for Spanish. Stop feeling so persecuted!

I believe sofia vergara is in a sitcom, and has an accent... believe me, there are plenty of hispanics on american tv... with accents... people are quick to complain that minorities are given roles like maids, and butlers.. And now, we have hispanics, and that are well spoken and you're complaining about that? To me, it doesn't matter whether they have an accent or not, I just like to see hispanics play roles like police officers, doctors, lawyers, realtors... etc...

I have seen some Hispanics on television and I think it is increasing. And our local cable company now has over a dozen Spanish language channels. That is different from a few years ago.

well, there's that, and why do they only show light-skinned people? look at my username! BrownIsBeautiful! i've found that a lot of asians and blacks on TV have light skin. why is that? if there's someone who IS tan, it's probably some blonde girl with a fake tan.
