Eeek...formal...upscale...I'm envisioning champagne in crystal glasses...not a bottle of bud...the least she could have done is pour it in a nice beer glass. I mean, hey, it's actually her loss because if she was walking around the whole time with a bottle of beer in her hand, then her wedding pictures aren't going to be very flattering. I'm actually on your side...but I don't think tacky's the word, trashy is more like it.

Here's some food for thought. Had the groom walked around the reception in the same exact setting, would it have been really tacky? Or if the wedding had been more of a casual affair, would that have been tacky all the same? A rose by any other name... Therefore, would it have been tasteless had she walked around with a Manhattan in her hand the entire time? I hope not. I commend her for having had the energy to continue consuming alcohol on the event that was the result of many months of planning, tears and sweat. If she consistently has a problem with alcohol, however, that would be an entirely different issue.

Given the formality of the wedding, it sounds pretty tacky. I drank a little at my wedding and at the time I smoked (which is super tacky) But I instructed my photographer not to take a picture of me doing either...so except for the champagne toast I don't have a drink in my hand...and I only smoked outside (3 times the whole reception)...as for the video, my sister in laws boyfriend took one video and she had a beer in her hand the whole time...sometimes double fisted...it wasn't a big deal and she wasn't wasted, but boy did we make fun of her for it!
Your bride will probably not even notice...

If it was a formal wedding then the bride was definitely tacky... besides, if she likes walking around with a beer, why spend money in a formal, upscale wedding anyways?

I drank beer at my wedding. I don't care if it looks tacky. It was my day and I wanted beer. If someone thought it was tacky I would tell them to get a life. And it was a nice wedding too.

I agree that was really tacky. Your in a gorgeous wedding gown holding a beer??? The two just don't go together. That's like wearing a business suit with flip flops.

Receptions are supposed to be a celebration -- a party. Loads of brides get trashed on their wedding days. However her closeness with the alcohol is kind of scary. Like she has regrets or something and now she's drinking away the sorrows? It won't last more than 6 months :P

Upscale and formal parties don't mean the host or participants are classy and mannered. I've been to several beautiful celebrations-all the glitz and glam and they had the TACKIEST people there doing some of the craziest stuff I've ever seen.
It was tacky but it was her day and our opinions don't matter. She obviously seems to be more obsessed with materials than social acceptance..or even manners.

If it was upscale,...then, yes, it was really tacky. If she liked beer, fine and all, but she should have put it in a glass. But, so what. If that is her wedding, SHE is the one that is going to have to look back and look at the pictures and video and be embarrassed. .....
right?
I feel you on this....she SHOULD HAVE in my hummble oppinion had a little class at her own wedding....
But, like I said before...this was HER wedding...
why did you let it bother you so much...
Are you the groom?

I agree with you it is very tacky, she could at least put it in a glass. I but she will love getting her reception pictures back and see a bride in her beer bottle.
