There are a lot of things that the medical community can do
for you, but you'll have to admit to your parents that you are
smoking and want to stop.
"Mom, I started smoking a couple of years ago, and you know
how you told me that it was stupid? Well ... you're right.
I've been trying to stop for awhile, but I can't. I need help.
Can I see a doctor?"
Parents are frequently stupid... But not always.

Drinking and smoking are TWO different things. if your cousin ran you over because you were drunk, it has nothing to do with smoking. Anyway, you need to stop because smoking often leads to lung cancer and/or emphysema. You may only be 15 but the longer you smoke, the more your odds for these diseases increases. Also, nicotine thins your bones by robbing them of calcium. Anyway, you need to seek out some professional help in the form of therapy, or use something that you can buy over the counter that will help you cease your habit, "The Patch" gums, and other products, Ask the pharmacist. You may be too young to buy these products (although somehow you have the cigarettes), so enlist the help of your parents or another trusted adult. Good luck. Also, Stop drinking as it will get you into just as much trouble as smoking - only sooner!

first, congratulations on deciding to quit smoking!
here's some tips:
The American Cancer Society offers suggestions on how to make quitting a little easier, and how to stay smoke-free:
* Make a firm decision to quit. Not to try to cut back, or see if you can quit -- say you're going to do it and stick with it. Choose a date that you'll be smoke-free, and pick a smoking cessation plan that will work for you.
* Especially in the beginning, avoid places where there are other smokers or where you've frequently smoked.
* Vary your routine. Drive different routes, go for a walk instead of a smoke, or drink water or juice instead of alcohol.
* When you get a craving to smoke, keep your hands busy with activities like knitting, needlepoint or woodwork. Also try snacking on healthy, crunchy foods like carrot sticks or seeds, or even sugar-free gum.
* Breathe deeply, inhaling fresh, clean air. Inhaling as you did when smoking can help simulate that feeling of inhaling -- but you'll feel better breathing in clean air instead of smoke.
* If decide you have to smoke, make yourself wait 10 minutes. Often, by the time the 10 minutes are up, the craving has passed and you will be able to skip the cigarette.
* Save up the money you would have spent each week on cigarettes, and treat yourself to dinner or a movie, a book, CD or some other reward.

Do you drink coffee or caffeinated drinks? I know someone who quit cigarettes and caffeine at the same time... why? Apparently nicotine breaks down caffeine in the system... so take away nicotine but keep the caffeine and your body goes into caffeine over-drive... not condusive to quitting! He said it made a huge difference.
I've smoked for 27 years, since I was 14. Looking back, I wish I had of quit 2 years in... it would have been 1,000 times easier. It is also medically shown that by quitting now while you're young, your body WILL mend any damage already done... you're still young enough... but not for long, time has a way of getting away on you.
Please try NOW... try like having control over your life and finances could forever depend on it.

Since you started so young, you have literally altered your DNA, and that is a scientific fact. It is super ingrained in you and your nervous system is literally wired to expect its nicotine hits at a regular rate. That is what happens when you start before you have completed puberty according the science and behavioral experts. People in your position have to endure withdrawal that is very very difficult, but not impossible. You will need to set as stop date and tell everyone you know that they have to help you stay away from smoking anything at at. This makes you accountable and people will be put on notice that you will be irritable, even manic. And know that your relapse rate is extremely high, and that it may take many attempts to quit. I would read all of the quit smoking web sites you can. Some people can just stop, while others are so ingrained that they literally can't. It depends on your biological make up and how strong you are mentally. You might try laser therapy as that stopped my brother, but his wife, no, three laser treatments and she can't stop...best of luck

well it is easier said than done to my opinion...one thing people that do not smoke says that we stink....we smell like cigarettes...so that i have heard myself...i have tried to quit by patches and did ok for a while..but you can not stay on the strong patch forever...and i tried accumpture once and quit for awhile..but i guess i just like to smoke and i do not eat as much when i smoke.. i do not want to ever get fat...but we are not all the same...you may do fine on the patches and you may do fine if you go the accumpture way...the thing is that it is a habit and you have to break the habit even if you are getting the nicotine out of your body...habits are hard to break and sometimes you pick up another habit almost as bad as smoking like eating to much ...well you can give these ideas a try and see how they work for you.. i am around people that smoke ..if a person was trying to quit smoking they need to stay away from cigarettes...

Good for you for knowing you need to quit!! That's a great first step.
Tell everyone you know or meet that your quitting. You'll feel more responsible to keep it up if you know you're going to let everyone down that you've told. And this way, your friends can help you stay away from smoking rather than offering you some or making you feel bad.
You should probably cut back on the drinking too. Enjoy your teenage years - don't drink them away. You'll regret it.

You're right. Smokers stink to people who don't smoke. I currently smoke. I am 26. I've been smoking since your age. It's a very hard thing to put down. But that is what you have to do. The sooner you do it, the easier it will be. Just lay them down. Keep plenty of sugarfree gum around. When you want to smoke....have gum instead. Good luck!

He suddenly said I want to quit, no becuase of my family, not becuase of my health, not becacuse I am known as a smoker, but becuase I WANT TO QUIT. Just like that, he did. If you wnat to quit, then DO IT! Thats all.

Start substituting your cig cravings with something else. I used to buy mad gum and everytime I needed a cig I would just throw gum in. Also, try to avoid others that smoke just for a couple days. If you could get the nicotine out of your system for 3 days straight you will be fine, that is all it takes.

I am a smoker and we smoke external. I simply do not appreciate why humans smoke within while it is so effortless to step out the again door. My mom and dad smoke within their condominium and I hate it. I have two youngsters and my sister is pregnant together with her moment and we're each approximately to the factor of now not going over there anymore. I do not appreciate why they cannot cross two hours with no cigarette. I could now not allow someone are available in my condominium with a cigarette and ask them in the event that they might both cross external to smoke or now not smoke even as you're there.
