Barring discussion on wether or not previous election have been "fair" or "obviously rigged" do you think that the next presidential election will be dominated by a Republican?

If you can't decide on the current political climate, then you could use the history of our presidential elections, but I was more refrencing the state of both main parties now, and that effect on how each will run their parties campaigns. I would never mean to ignore history, it just didn't seem relavent to exactly what I wanted to know.

My opinion on whether the next election will be fair or not is based on my perception of past elections.

I would imagine it's that way for most people, so how can you attempt to get an answer without discussing '00 or '04?

Truthfully, I think that Democrats and Republicans alike look for any excuse they can to explain a loss in the polling. With the rise of cable news in the late 90s, the public has been exposed to political tactics that have occurred on both sides for decades. It's nothing new. But because Republicans have won a majority of the elections since 2000, many in the mainstream and the left have associated these "tactics" with cheating and conspiracy. The ironic part is that they've helped both parties in the past.

Update:

What does "current political climate" really mean? The "climate" that you reference consists of negative references to how things have been handled in the past - hanging chads, blocking voters at poll centers, computer systems that can be hacked, etc.

More importantly, where does the question come from? Is it not a result of past accusations and attrocities in the polling process?

As of right now, I believe both parties are working at many of the same strategies they've used in the past - Dems trying to encourage and go after non-voters in minority groups, offering transportation and incentives to voting; Republicans trying to discount many of those same voters as ineligible at the polling booths or to block unqualified votes from voters who registered in a different city/state.

I think this election will be just as fair as any in the past, but that the losing party will make some kind of issue out of the whole thing...

We continually have a honest election. We had one in 2000. There are continually people who attempt to cheat, like in any contest. Democrats earnings a great deal via the bounds of the device that makes it complicated to perceive human beings voting extra desirable than as quickly as, non voters voting, and voting via ineffective human beings. for this reason they oppose the voter identification card. The remarkable courtroom stepped in to end a fraudulent vote recount. President Bush gained Florida. He might have gained it via a larger margin if the liberal biased media had no longer called Florida in develop for Gore, inflicting many could be Bush voters interior the top area of Florida (that's heavily republican) to tutor around and not vote. The media knew what they have been doing. besides the undeniable fact that it did no longer artwork. Now all liberals have left is their seething hate.

You can't ignore history and the trend is to more covert political action. It seems to be "do anything to win until you get caught". It wouldn't surprise me if a third political party became firmly established since the two majors have become so corrupted by special interests and cronyism. It appears that no legislation is ever passed that solely benefits THE PEOPLE.

I predict that the Republicans will be in deep 'doodoo'. But, if the behind-the-scenes leaders of the GOP believe they're going to lose the 2008 election, they will stage another 'terrorist' attack on U.S. soil, and then order George Bush to declare martial law. He will claim that a change in administrations is not in the best interests of national security, and will remain in power until the Republicans can restore their popularity and steal another election.

The problem with replacing crooked, corrupt Republicans with Democrats is that the Democrats are just as crooked and corrupt. As long as the 'Republicrats" have such a stranglehold on our American political system, nothing will change. -RKO-

God help us if Republicans get in. Look at what they have done so far.

And the Republicans will rigg things up again. They use electronic voting machines to rigg up votes.

See for yourself how they have cheated America http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3695211834018080649
