It has destroyed all the budding. Is there anything I can do to save it???

You have a killer mold. The products used to kill this type of fungus are quite poisonous, so the cure could be worse than the disease.
I had this on a rosemary plant and though I kept hosing it off, it came back every time.
It will kill your plant and could infect others. So, I recommend scrapping it.

nah, that sounds like some kind of fungus. i doubt you'd be able to do anything about it. sorry dude, that can be shitty sometimes.
