...my brother plays a lot of free online games, would that count as downloading because my internet package tells me that i cannot exceed a 1GB limit which if exceeded they will charge (a lot!). So are free online games counted as downloading?

Your online limit includes everything. Basic web page navagation also counts as downloading / uploading. But only tiny amounts. The same goes with free online games. You have to download a small bit of information for it to display onto your webpage that you are viewing.

If he is games heavy, and also moves onto the proper online games (FPS's etc) or even MP3 downloading, you should consider getting a bigger cap. A 1GB cap is disgraceful for broadband today. Heck I can fill that up within a couple of days sometimes what I download.

My advice: Switch ISP. Goto Telewest / NTL. They offer a basic connection of 512k - 1meg connection for £14.99 per month **With no limits* * Perfect if you use the internet regualrly.

If you do not use the internet that often stay where you are, you should be fine.

No playing free online games are not classed as downloading ie flashgames , miniclips etc. only games that are stored on the computer would come from a down load. Games like counter strike or warcraft tft, that have new maps / levels added on a regular basis download updates but these are pretty small.

Download your online games and save them onto a floppy disc. Then uninstall the downloads from your hard drive on the add/remove list. Simple! You can then access your games through the floppy. Works for me.

Yes because online games generate traffic over your connection which will count towards your limit
