Get involved in a group. Whether it be a church, charity, or other group. Find people that you think might have the same interests. Hopefully, this will help you build some friendships. Be outgoing. Take a chance. Say, "HI." Try to keep the conversation going. It'll take some work and some time, but you can be successful.

Join local clubs or civic groups. Volunteer at a shelter or other place (animal hospital). Join a class at the city college (Basket Weaving 101). Get a second job part time someplace (coffee shop, etc).
In other words, be places where people are! No one's going to come banging on your door begging you to come out and play if they don't know you exist in the first place!

“The best thing for being sad,” replied Merlyn, … is to learn something. That is the only that that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night, listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only true love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then – to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting.”

Fung Shway (sp) I know it sounds gay but it means to change things. So re arrange furniture, clean out your closet, move your dishes around. Change things that you see every day and by changing all that stuff it somehow makes you feel changed too. It really works wonders. Good luck
