I'm not going to defend Mel Gibson since I thought he was weird even before this incident, but he didn't say anything that hasn't been said behind closed doors in alot of places. Just like we all had something negative to day about Muslims after 9/11. We ALL have our opinions. We don't have to love everyone. I know the climate today is to be be politically correct at all times, but we need to allow ourselves to have opinions and to say what we feel. However, I do believe people should use discretion as to where and when and to whom we voice those opinions. Mel, unfortunately, didn't pick a good time or place to say what he thinks. I don't think we should make such a big deal out of it though. People will now come out of the woodwork to say they "hate" Mel Gibson. Same thing.

Why be hateful towards anyone? What's the big deal anyway? Everybody has the right to express an opinion... positive or negative. What if the remarks were about Arabs or Protestants or the Irish, or Blacks, or Italians? Why is everyone so sensitive about negative remarks about Jewish people and the Jewish faith?

I don't think it's okay to be hateful towards anybody, Muslim, Jew, Mickey Mouse, or even Woody Woodpecker... but alot of times, hate is there because it was instilled into you as a youth or from experience. Perhaps poor Mel has been slighted more than once by people of Jewish origin or of Jewish faith... Unfortunately, people tend to generalize, that just because you were slighted by someone of this faith or ethnic background, everyone who is of that faith is the same. This is just not the case.

It is possible to criticize the actions of some Muslims and the tenets of Islam without being a bigot. Likewise, it is possible to criticize the actions of some Jews or Jewish states and the teachings of Judaism without being a bigot.

What Mel Gibson did was a mistake, for which he has apologized.

It isn't okay to be anti-Muslim, though. It's funny, people always talk about how Muslims and Jews hate each other. Those are just the extremists. When the mosque next to my synagogue was vandalised, our synagogue offered to share our space for as long as it took to rebuild, and helped with the rebuilding as well. No hate is okay, nor is judging a group based on the actions of a few of its members.

Who has been outspoken towards Muslims upon being arrested lately?? Its obvious that Mel is anit-semitic, or just jealous of all the rich Jews in Hollywood. Anyway, I digress, don't hate anyone, just disagree.

its worse because he directed passion of the Christ a very Semitic movie and now he's bashing the very culture he supported. I'm not saying that its worse to hate on or the other because nobody should hate anyone but in Mel's case it is especially bad

Because Jews don't kill americans on purpose.

Radical muslims believe that sacraficing yourself to take out americans will land you in heaven with 72 virgins.

I don't hate all muslims...I have friends that are Islamic.

I hate radical muslims who actively seek out ways to harm innocent americans.

I've said it before, I'll say it again...as a firefighter I lost 343 brothers on 9/11...that's something I never want to go through again.

The Jews don't want to kill everyone who isn't a Jew. The muslims are taught to deal with infidels in three ways: kill all non-believers, tax them or convert them. It is the aim of islam to convert the entire world, or kill or enslave all non-believers. The Jews just want to be left in peace.

In a perfect world, hatred toward others should not be tolerated, but the world we live in isn't perfect. I don't wish to be hateful toward anyone, but when I know that my way of life is threatened by a radical religion, pardon me for reacting by doing all I can to eliminate that threat!

Racism in any form is WRONG. Mel Gibson, in actuality what he did was think that the arresting officers were arresting him because of the flack he got from his movie The Passion.... he thought they were against him and that is why he asked what he asked the cop (if he was jew)..
